EORI stands for "Economic Operator Registration and Identification" and is a scheme introduced in July 2009. Any VAT registered business that participates in the scheme will be issued with a unique EORI number by the tax authority in their member state.
When customs declarations need to be made the Economic Operator (EO) will use the EORI number in all communications. The implementation of the EORI scheme is designed to enhance security for f pre-arrival and pre-departure information on all goods entering and exiting the EU.
